Has Kesari Chapter 2 Sparked a Debate in the British Parliament?

In a significant development, British MP Bob Blackman has urged the UK government to issue a formal apology for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Even after more than a century, the demand for justice and accountability continues to gain momentum.

Speaking in Parliament, he stated, “On April 13, 1919, families gathered peacefully at Jallianwala Bagh to enjoy their day. However, General Dyer, acting on behalf of the British, led his troops into the area and ordered them to fire on the innocent crowd until they ran out of ammunition. By the end of the massacre, 1,500 people were killed, and 1,200 were injured. General Dyer was later disgraced for this shameful event in British history.”

He further emphasized, “In 2019, then-Prime Minister Theresa May acknowledged this as a dark chapter in British colonial rule in India. With the anniversary falling on April 13 this year during Parliament’s recess, could we have a government statement recognizing this wrongdoing and issuing a formal apology to the people of India?”

Kesari 2

This statement coincides with the upcoming release of Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, a film that sheds light on the remarkable efforts of C. Sankaran Nair—a lawyer and statesman who fought to uncover the truth behind the massacre and challenge the British Raj.

As history resurfaces, has the film’s announcement reignited calls for justice? With Britain’s colonial past under renewed scrutiny, the demand for accountability refuses to be silenced.
