Crime Declines in Punjab, But Awareness Needed to Combat Thriving Criminal Activities
According to official crime data, there has been a decrease in the number of murders and kidnappings in Punjab in 2022. While this is a positive sign for the state police’s efforts in controlling crime, it does not necessarily mean that criminal activities have ceased. The public and law enforcement must remain vigilant, and greater awareness is needed to prevent crimes and put an end to such offences. Education, alertness, and public awareness can help, but cinema and filmmaking can also play a significant role in creating experiential wisdom for people to learn from.
Chaupal OTT, the world’s biggest multi-regional over-the-top (OTT) platform, is releasing a crime thriller called ‘500 Meter,’ which follows a police officer, played by Kartar Cheema, investigating a child kidnapping and murder case.
